Turning Your Circumstances to Power

Chezka Gonzales, known in social media as Filipina Pilot Chezka Gonzales, is an Airbus A320 Pilot, Women of Substance NFT founder, founding committee member of Women in Blockchain Asia, content creator, Philippine Air Force reservist, registered nurse, former flight attendant, and last but not least, mother of two.

After high school, she gave birth to her eldest when she was 16 years old. She then decided to pursue nursing as a college degree, but after graduating, she was pregnant again with her second child. However, being a teenage mom did not stop her from becoming who she wanted to be. After passing the nursing board exam, she realised that she wanted to be in the travel industry. She applied with an airline company and worked as a flight attendant for 7 years. Later, she became interested in becoming an airline pilot.

During her 4th year as a flight attendant, she started taking her pilot course. On her 7th year, she became a commercial pilot, and was awarded a scholarship by the airline she was working for to learn how to fly an Airbus A320, after which she flew as a First Officer for 3 years.

Unfortunately, Gonzales was retrenched two years ago from her job as a pilot due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, she tried several businesses and found herself in the Web 3 world, because out of thousands who applied, she was chosen as a scholar for the Crypto Mastercourse by Nas Academy and Metapurse. This prompted her to start her Web3 journey. Believing that a scholarship has the power to change a person’s life, she incorporated charity work into the sale of her organisation’s NFTs. She is the founder of the NFT collection Women of Substance, and a founding committee member of Women in Blockchain Asia.

Gonzales’ flexibility and adaptability to the pandemic scenario paved a way for her to know what she really wants. She always tells others to never be afraid of trying, failing and getting back up again. Whatever profession or interest you are in, you can be successful if you really want to.
